Haven't posted about us in awhile so here is whats going on. We are currently 4-4 in the AAC in Mens Basketball and really should be 6-2 or better. We have two loses to bottom feeder teams and two wins over teams we had non business playing with, however after the Milligan game I think they are overrated. This weekend both Mens and Womens take play at home Friday and Saturday night, Friday Night against Covenant and Saturday against Bryan College. The men are undefeated at home, and look to be 5-4 in the AAC going into this weekend as they play at Union tomorrow night. Local players are having mixed results so far, Hood is struggling somewhat he shot 1-4 in our last game and scored two points in 14 minutes of play. Pance shot 4-7 and scored 10 points in that game and is continuing to be one of the key players on the team. Looks like the addition of some players over the semester break has cut down on some minutes for Hood. We were lead in scoring by Soles who scored 17 in the upset win over Milligan. The game Friday night starts at around 7:30 and around 6 on Saturday.
The UVA-Wise women's team finally got a win over the last week at Bluefield. Former Twin Valley standout Maxwell scored 20 points in the road victory. The Cav's most promising player continues to be freshman Adrienne Womack who scored 16 and grabbed 6 boards in the loss to Milligan last weekend, I personally think she should be getting more playing time than she does. She's by far our best low post player. The women take on Covenant and Bryan this weekend as well the games start 2 hours prior to the mens game. We are currently 2-6 in the AAC.
Baseball and Softball is getting ready to start, the baseball team travels to Emanual Georgia on Febuary 8th and 9th for a three game series to open the season. Pitching depth will be key as freshman Scott Cole and D'Andre Bussey must contribute for us to have a real chance of contending in the AAC. You know what your getting with David Jones, Josh Verts (moved to the closer role) and Brad Robbins. I'd expect the opening day lineup to be something close to this.

Softball team is coming off a season in which they appeared in the national tournament. The team returns the core as it only lost 3 players to graduation, I'd be shocked if they didn't push for another trip to the World Series. They open up the season Valentines Day on the road at Tusculum College.
UVA-Wise Football released it's 2008 schedule and it is listed below. Our schedule is much easier this year than last, as we are playing a weak out of conference schedule and really only face two tough tests in confercne play as we go to Georgetown and to Cumberlands. We replaced in conference Bethel with Faulkner who is a new member of the Mid-South Conference.
